The event will be held on Friday November 2 starting at 7.25pm when the deputy mayor of Douglas Ian Clague will lead the judging for the Best Guy competition.
At 7.40pm the fireworks display, set to music, will be fired from a barge moored opposite the war memorial on Douglas promenade, the area from where spectators are encouraged to watch the event and where catering outlets will also be located.
Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said: ‘The council’s fireworks display is an unfailingly crowd-pleasing, well organised occasion, which attracts many people to the town centre, so is of considerable benefit to the local economy. Celton Manx is therefore pleased to be sponsoring for the eighth year in succession what is one of the largest and most popular community events in Douglas.’
The council’s regeneration and community committee chairman Stephen Pitts said: ‘The council is very grateful to Celton Manx for their continued sponsorship of the fireworks event, which attracts visitors to Douglas from around the Island in great numbers – usually in the region of 6000 – to witness a spectacular display.’
