Celton Manx is to widen the reach of its community investment activities with the launch of a new sponsorship programme, ‘Recognition’, aimed primarily at those local charities and not-for-profit organisations which may have only limited resources for promoting and developing their services within the community.
Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said: ‘Since Celton Manx was formed in 2008 social responsibility has been one of the cornerstones of our business. This approach has led to the company having invested in the region of £750,000 in local community initiatives during our first five years of operation.
‘In that time we have been encouraged and, on occasions, humbled to witness the selfless dedication of people – a “silent army” if you will – helping transform the lives of others. Our experience gained through providing support and seeing, first-hand, ordinary people achieving extraordinary things as well as some of the more “under the radar” organisations making very real differences on the most modest of budgets, made it clear that Celton Manx could use its scale to benefit an even wider cross section of the community.
‘The Celton Manx Recognition programme is so-named not only because it seeks to recognise the endeavour and aspirations of organisations which may be struggling at a time when businesses and individuals are having to review their charitable giving priorities, but also because we would hope that those good causes selected will earn wider recognition of their work.
‘Importantly, in launching this sponsorship initiative Celton Manx is reaffirming its belief in the increasingly vital role the third or voluntary sector has to play in the community.’
